Whipsnade Pt1

A few images from a day out at Whipsnade Zoo yesterday.

1 & 2 : European Brown Bear

3,4 & 5 : Fallow Deer

6 : A sad looking Giraffe

7 : Mara - These roam freely in many areas throughout the Zoo, they look like rabbits when sat down, or even very small deer. The Mara is in fact the 4th largest rodent in the world. Quite cute for a rodent

8 : Baby Mara

9 & 10 : MeerKat pair and one on his lonesome

11 : Hippo

12 : Pygmy Hippo, 13 : Pygmy Hippo Calf

Well that is all for Pt 1. As usual comments/criticisms more than welcome, Thanks for looking

Re: Whipsnade Pt1

Thankyou More on their way.
4th largest apparently, . Quite amazing to see how tall they are when they are stood up, youngster does look like a Hare too. They are very placid creatures, probably used to being around people now, i am surprised they are not scared witless due to the amount of Kids i seen chasing them around though.

Re: Whipsnade Pt1

Thanks Musky I just love wildlife photography, the 3 lots of photos i have posted are just some of the 360 photos i took yesterday, of course, not all photos were wildlife, some scenic photos in there too, have not had chance to go through them yet, 360 images yesterday, can you imagine what i was like when me and the missus had our honeymoon over in Florida back in 2003 especially after visits to Busch Gardens and Animal Kingdom, and of course Seaworld, i think i returned back with over 700 images, 3/4 of them of wildlife, sadly the photos were taken through a digital camera that i had bought back in 2000, so the images lacked in quality, if not quantity.
I had never heard of Mara before yesterday either.

Re: Whipsnade Pt1

Im not totally convinced Musky Babies/Adult brown rats are just ugly. I just do not know why i just dislike brown rats and not any other rat though, strange indeed

Re: Whipsnade Pt1

Great set. I used to enjoy going to Whipsnade Zoo many moons ago. The price was silly then, bet it's even worse now.
