Lens pen

Does anyone use the *lens pen", the two-ended cleaning device with a brush at one end a carbon-coated pad at the other? How well do they work? Are they a *must have* accessory, or are there better ways of lens cleaning?

What do you use?

Re: Lens pen

I had/have one, after a time the brush hairs fall out which is why I don't use it any more.As for lens cleaning it depends on what type of contamination is on the lens ie smear or dust. A micro fibre cloth is what I use now. you can or should be able to get a good one from local opticians. For dust a rocket blower will suffice

Re: Lens pen

HAve seen them and they seems quite good. Not really used for anything other than binoculars though. I have microfibre cloth, chamois leather and lens wipes personally.

Re: Lens pen

I've ordered one. Less than 6 quid on eBay, it's worth a punt

Re: Lens pen

I always put on at least a skylight (clear) filter if not a UV one, lot cheaper to replace a filter than sending a lens to be repaired.

Re: Lens pen

The lens pen arrived this morning, which was lucky as the kit lens had a nice thumb print on it. Have to confess it did a really good job of removing it without any drama.

Next...re-charging silica gel bags...
