Re: Alaskan Malamute Portrait/Artwork

Stunning shots of two gorgeous dogs (well I might be slightly biased given I own their uncle but they are lovely examples of the breed!).

From a 'breed' pov (rather than an artistic one ) have you lightened and enhanced the eyes? They never struck me as having particularly 'light' eyes before. Whilst I agree it gives them an artistic edge, for me it doesn't show them off to their best (It is more apparent in Toko's than Rula's).

Nope, no lightening of the eyes, in fact i darkened them slightly, they were looking at me and the flash so that may have affected it, but Toko does have much lighter eyes than my boy, probably about the same as Mina's.

They are lovely eamples of the breed, and i guess I am biased too as i own the half brother and sister of these 2 LOL But with 7/8 Best of Breed under his belt before he is 1, Toko (the grey one) must be something special!!

You know I am going to have to make a point of looking at their eyes now It could well be the flash because like I said, they have never struck me as having particularly light eyes before (and I do tend to notice it ).

Lucien does have nice dark eyes (along with a nice head ).

Re: Alaskan Malamute Portrait/Artwork

I'm really amazed that you say you haven't enhanced the eyes.

The very first thought I had when I opened this thread was that, although this is clearly an edited image, the eyes look far too unnatural for me.

I've taken countless images of Logan, my Alaskan Malamute, and I've never had his eyes turn out like that in ANY of the shots I've taken, even with a flash.

And you say you've actually darkened them?

Is there any chance you could post one of the two original shots with the even brighter eyes?
I'm just really curious to see how much they differ from Logan's.

Will do when i get to work the shots were taken in a carpark at a show against a whitewash wall.. in the pouring rain lol so i had the flash on full power. The eyes are processed to match what i did on the fur but not lightened, just enhanced a little to make them more drawing like than photograph and get a bit of detail in them.

I did not say the image was meant to be like a photograph - more like a pastel style drawing... i love it anyway and so does the owner of the dogs which is all that matters
