... on my old SLR

Got a CD back with pics on today... here's a few of the best. I'm a bit disappointed with them but never mind, here they are

Presumably you have had to scan the prints first before being able to post them on here.
Obviously between taking the pictures,having them printed then scanned then then digitally altered to be able to put them on here some of the quality is bound to be lossed.

Having said that and what you have had to do to have them on here is a really good effort. I guess those photos were taken with your Canon SLR.
I did look that camera up and it seems that Canon have abandoned that camera, and the mounts for lenses are completely different now. So even if and when you decided to get a DSLR any lens you already have wouldn't fit.

I like the dreamy effect 6 and 8 are just lovely
Did you get prints back as well as the CD? was the quality better on the prints do you think? Maybe a negative scan would bring them up a little clearer.
