Cotton Roses

Most often called the Cotton Rose or Confederate Rose. Both the white and pink flowers are on the same bush but different phases of the flower as it ages. It is a plant related to cotton, okra and many other flowers. This home has 5 of them and I have not seen them anywhere alse. Mom tells me she planted 3 of them but they were frosted out and now there are none here. I am thinking of taking a cutting from the one that is along the road some distance from the house. They appear to grow in sun and just as well in deep shade and are in sandy soil...well, in Florida sandy soil is all there is.

Re: Cotton Roses

Lovely work Shirley - nice exposure and little noise - the first I like especially, although - the second is lovely also with the blue sky, and different angle. The third is not so bad either, but the highlights are still a little bleached. This could be because you're dealing with some very harsh sun

Re: Cotton Roses

Hi Shirley, you have some really nice flowers there, the first one's a cracker. As Laura said the highlights are a little blown on the last shot but this is probably due to the camera metering being fooled.
