2 B&W experiments.

Once again, B&W. I've been scanning through my photos to look for interesting ones I like.

Here are two I captured. I did shoot in b&w. but obviously the raw was in colour some I did a mono conversion on the raw files.

Re: 2 B&W experiments.

Quite a bit in there Dan but I'm not sure it is an interesting photo with any message particularly? (other than the way to Charlottenstrafze!). Have to be honest, not just in these pictures but in some others I have seen posted and I think we try to see something that isn't necessarily there. Sorry mate, just my opinion. However, once again plenty of nice BW tones.

Re: 2 B&W experiments.

I suppose Ive taken more of a venacular approach with this photos. I've really taken the photos to try and encapsulate the wide range of tonal values.

I do appreciate what your saying however. thankyou.

Re: 2 B&W experiments.

Dan, I like the first, it is a busy image, but it is a street scene, so the bustle and busyness of it works. Maybe loose the car on the left handside, and crop where the electrical box thingies start?

Did you feel more comfortable shooting a street scene in a different country? or does it not bother you?

You Mono conversions are very good, fab tones xxxx

Re: 2 B&W experiments.

I think thats what I like about that image is the business of the image. I will try the crop see what I think. the box does break up the flow of the image though.

I did feel comfortable, I was sat on the floor on my own on a steet corner getting strange looks from passers by. As I had my 90-300mm lens on as well.

Thank you for the complement on my mono tones, It's something I'm working on to practice.

Yeah, I think it is the box that is the problem in the image.

I have only done a little street photography, I did enjoy it, my fave was doing it in London, but felt a little self conscious at the same time. City scenes just work so well in Mono, don't they I'd like to try some with a really wide angle lens

Re: 2 B&W experiments.

I prefer the first one too Dan - the only thing I don't like about it is the clump of three things in the front left, I'd have preferred it without the taller one as I think it dominates the area a bit too much otherwise.
