Have to admit pictures like this arn't really my scene, yet I can understand that other might like it.

Re: Underpass (mono)

Sorry BC not for me, had me reaching for my specs as there seems to be nothing in focus at all and the noise, for me, is OTT.

Feel the colour may well be blues & greens and it could be that with the colour and the distant figures or the cyclist in focus I may well have liked it. But sorry, it is it holds no interest for me except to wonder what might have been.

Seem to remember you doing an underpass before and that I really liked.

Re: Underpass (mono)

I agree with LM - I think it's great! The pp works really well for the subject.

The only thing I'd edit out, is whatever it is on the back of that kid on the bike - I find it little distracting.

Of course, it was intentional BC LOL it is just not for me, as you say each to their own and this one I do not like because I can find no real focal point. The thing that draws my eye is the wavy line of the tiling, is that your intention?

Re: Underpass (mono)

No, my intention was to put in an image that might appeal to some people. I knew it was a noisy, grainy image and was not seeking perfection in the technical aspect, rather the overall image itself. I wasn't intending for viewers to focus merely on the wavy line but I had hoped that converging lines led to the folks in the background. We all interpret what we see in different ways of course, if you are drawn to the wavy line then that was unintentional on my part.

Re: Underpass (mono)

Thumbs up from me.

The dirty gritty style suits the urban scene really well and in terms of the composition - you've got the perspective lines leading to a point 1/3rd up and accross.

Re: Underpass (mono)

Huge thumbs up from me too, I like the way the converging horizontals and the wavey line leads to the couple in the distance. Also like the PP, the grain, the contrast and the grittiness I am a big fan of. I would be tempted to remove or lighten the dark patch to the right of the distant couple, for me it tends to compete as a secondary focal point, it may also balance better with the other side.
