Sensor cleaning

Hi everyone,
Has anyone tried to clean their own sensor. My Canon camera has a smear on the sensor and I can't get it clean. Beginning to think I'll have to get it cleaned professionally.
Anyone with experience of this?

Re: Sensor cleaning

Does the smear show up in the photographs? If not it may be the mirror thats smeared.

A sensor cleaning kit should cure the problem if its actually on the sensor ,whatever you do don't use cotton buds BUT you could try using a lint cleaning wipe from a kit on the end of a cotton bud.

I invested in a kit which comes with lint pads- fluid- button sticks and wipe pads as well as having a rocket air blaster.
