KenTT has newer versions (1D Mark III and 1DS Mark III) so may elaborate more on this but In simple terms Canon's pro 1D series come in two variations.

The 1Ds models are full frame - squillions of MP - landscape and still image camera.

The 1D models are 1.3 crop (sensor size between FF and 1.6 crop) less MP but faster - aimed more at photojournalists, sports and wildlife.

Re: New Camera

Yep - my 40D is gripped and whilst I never take it off I know that I can if I want to go light.

With the 1D models and D3 models you're pretty much stuck with the weight so I'll see how it goes and decide which one I'm keeping.

I've only just realised it's not showing on the pic Bazza. It's a Mark II.
