Re: 10-20mm lens worth saving for ?

I have the Nikon 12-24mm wide angle lens and its brilliant. The 10-20mm is a Sigma lens if my memory servers me correctly and I am unable to comment on that particular lens. Going down to 10mm may be a little too wide but thats just my opinion. The main advantage is where you can't get far enough back to get into frame the picture you would like to take, thats where the lens comes into its own and should be a must have in any kit.

Re: 10-20mm lens worth saving for ?

I have a new Sigma 10-20 mm EX 1:4-5.6 DC HSM lens, I might be selling. (I have designs on something else)

It is great for ultra wide, close up photography, very sharp images, in all a very powerful tool for both indoor and landscape photography. Not cheap at RRP £340 (I'll sell for £300 plus P&P)

A well balanced review can be found here:

Re: 10-20mm lens worth saving for ?

I've heard it is a very popular lens Claire.

As always though I would recommend you have a look at pics taken with it and your camera, on pbase.com - just to make sure you like the end results

Re: 10-20mm lens worth saving for ?

Azz ive check out 10-20mm lens pics and is awsome these lense tend to give a more dramatic feel with the skies
so i will be carrying on saving for this lens.

thanks for the info bazza and JR what i like to know is there a big differant between 18mm going down to 10mm as i already have the 18-135mm lense ? perhaps a faster speed also ?

Re: 10-20mm lens worth saving for ?

For wide angle yes there is a definite difference in how much the lens takes in from side to side between 10-18mm. I used to have the 18-70mm Nikon lens which stupidly I exchanged with the D70s for the D200. Speed wise my Nikon lens is f3.5-f5.6 so no difference there against a normal consumer lens, and shutter speed depend on aparture settings etc.

The width of angle is great either for landscape- indoor- confined space shots and glad I have one.

Re: 10-20mm lens worth saving for ?

I love that lens! Its one thats on my "want to get but will have to wait till last" list! I wouldnt say that 10mm is too wide. Dont forget DSLRs have a crop factor. On the D80, which has a crop factor of 1.5, the lens will have an equivalent field of veiw too a 15-30mm.
