Re: Nikon F2SA

Thank you Zoundz for your very kind remarks. I had taken every thing off and deleted the site untill I saw your e-mail. I have looked at the site again and there are other comments. and was thinking about re joining untill I saw his last remarks again.I am a very private person an Introvert really but the arrogant bombastic person who sonds like an Ex offiicer or ex school teacher. has prompted me to speak out about myself I am not a Spammer I am a very keen Photographer. the camera is registed with Nikon in London. As an Ex marine (special forces)of 7 years having been on three major expeditions Himalayas and patagonia twice. Alaska for my 60 birthday walked across the brookes mountains alone canoed the yukon river alone. climbed the eiger solo sailed all over the place alone solo. I thought I had a lot to contribute wild life and mountain and sailing in bad weather photos. I am not saying I would have spoken much on the site but would have corresponded privately with members.I have 14 cameras mostly vintage also a rollei 35 among others and wasnt all that botherd about selling it but Azz has hit the nail on the head its what Id do. If some one put an olympus 70-300 lens on the site for around £200 I would snap it up and couldnt care less if it was there first post or not Must apologise to decient members for blowing my trumpet. also I know King Kong will say anybody can say that but I am only an e-mail away if anyone wants facts. shouldnt have said all that but Im Mad.

Re: Nikon F2SA

For heaven's sake both - hasn't anyone ever heard of 'caveat emptor'? While I probably wouldn't buy from someone who sells in that way - I certainly don't see it as any different to buying from the freeads - you just have to execute extra caution.

I'm appalled to be honest

I would have loved to have seen your photos Cerro I'm sure you do have a lot to offer to the forum.

In fairness to Cerro - it's not his fault. If we really wanted to, we could prevent people with less than X number of posts posting in this section - but personally I don't think it's needed... if 'new' members want to chance advertising their kit here (under extra scrutiny) that's up to them.

I do agree that some of the posts were hostile, particularly from you Bazza - but I thought you were just having a bad day.

One of our golden rules - if you don't like the thread/or thread starter (and can't be amicable) then it's probably best to ignore it.

Azz

I was being quite mild not hostile at all, just pointing out there is etiquette one should abide by, and if new members are unsure then they can easily read how other new members introduced themselves. Its not rocket science.

You have never ever heard me using that expression "SLAG OFF" and its not the thing I like to read either. We can all use "gutter talk" me better than most, but I have more respect for the forum and members.
As for helping when possible, just look at the number of postings under hint and tips I have done

Bazza

Re: Nikon F2SA

The ideal place to have brought it up, would have been in the suggestions/feedback section

It's not the thread starters fault because he didn't break any rules

Re: Nikon F2SA

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

Personally, I'd love to see some of your pictures, so please don't be put off posting them

Seeing as there are no forum rules about selling items on your first post, don't think it is that big of a deal, and this forum needs new blood, or it gets boring seeing the same stuff.

The term "Slagging off", really is not a major thing to get worked up about I can think of much worse things ,and this is really no biggie.

Anyway, welcome Gordon, and please do share some of your images. xxx

Re: Nikon F2SA

Hi Cerro, sorry to see your arrival at Yop was met with all this controversy. Bazza was a bit too straight talking on this occasion and isn't the speaker elect of all of us. However, we have had a few people posting spam messages here so I am sure his intention was only to keep away any who were just using the forum to do that. Hopefully you can put it all behind you and we can see some of your stuff. Your career sounds incrediably interesting...I know and have worked closely with folks from special forces and probably more as there are those who wouldn't tell you anyway! Your trips abroad must have been great, especially as a few years ago some of the destinations you found yourself were even more unknown than the smaller world we have today.

I briefly saw your ad a day or two back when you posted it but haven't had much time lately to look in on Yop. The Nikon F2 was my teenage dream!! I used to see the ads with the F2 and the Photomic head, it looked amazing in the 70's and 80's. I eventually owned an FG, FE2, F3 and F4, and used an FM at work but damn I but never did get an F2 Photomic! I guess I would love to see a picture of yours if you can. I can't see me using film again but part of me wants to buy it to fufill a dream! TBH, it's probably worth a lot less than you are hoping for. An F3 went at £25 after weeks of trying to sell in another forum.

Anyway, hopefully the forum will settle down, you will see that everyone here can be friendly and I am sure there are quite a few people would like to see some of your pics from the trips. Welcome to the forum.

Re: Nikon F2SA

Hi Cerro

Welcome to YoP

I hope you'll stick around as I'm sure you'll soon realise that whilst it isn't the largest forum in the world - it's caertainly a friendly one with a great mix of people.

Did you mention climbing in Patagonia ?

I'd love to hear a little bit more about that !

Cheers

Re: Nikon F2SA

Every body has been very good and I thank you all for the support, but Im afraid I would clash with bazza So I must look elswhere for a site. Phil your last post about patagonia. Google Gordon hibberd cerro Torre patagonia 1971 or Gordon hibberd fortress patagonia 1968 should give you what you want if you look carefully. Kind Regards GH
