2nd Macro shots

Hi guys

I had another go with the new macro lens again today. I'm getting a little bit braver too.

I'm really loving this lens.

Re: 2nd Macro shots

They are all lovely - perhaps a slightly shallow DoF on some? But it depends on what you're trying to acheive, some of my favourite macro shots that I (and others) have taken have been very shallow indeed! I think number 2 is my favourite, it really works compositionally, and it's just great!

Re: 2nd Macro shots

Nice one.

I bet there's so much fun to be had with a macro lens.

I can see what Zoundz means about the depth of focus but don't really have any experience knowing how things work this close in.

At f2.8 - your largest aperture - you're shooting at somewhere between 1/50sec and 1/200sec. Would using a smaller aperture for a deeper depth of focus mean shutter speeds would be too slow for buzzing beasties ?

Re: 2nd Macro shots

I personally find, often at such close range, even using the on camera flash works fine - though not in all situations - obviously a macro flash is better - natural light even better again. I usually shoot at around f10 in good light, and use sometimes the flash.

Re: 2nd Macro shots

They are very very cool! I would up the shutter speed a little though - as they seem a bit washed out in parts, that's what I'd do anyway!

I love these shots though - I *love* their little faces - number 3 made me laugh!

Re: 2nd Macro shots

1,3 and 4 are very good MD and 2 and 4 for the snail shots Have you tried capturing water splashes/drips MD, as your lens would be ideal for that type of stuff.
