Re: I ordered a D300!!

Thanks all!

I know I am doing it back to front, should get some better glass first, then get the camera

I'm going to use my 55-200VR to begin with, and maybe the 18-55 if I need it (as I am still keeping the D40 - because I won't always want to take an expensive camera out with me!), then get a 50mm, then save enough to get a 70-200 and then later a 200-400, but that will take a few years of course Least in that time I will get used to the camera. I hope it will last me a good few years.

However, I am still very tempted by the 40D, it's practically half the price, its not quite as good as the D300, but what do you expect for the price difference! At least that way I could get some more glass sooner.

Re: I ordered a D300!!

No.. only ordered it this afternoon - they said 5 days delivery, but they've only sent me this so far:

Quote:
This is to confirm that we are starting to process your order. When we are
able to confirm your order we will send you a third email, which will also
confirm dispatch of the goods.
So I should expect another email and I guess it will be five days from then.

Re: I ordered a D300!!

The 'only' thing making me think twice is the price. I love the camera and the quality of its images and if they were both the same price there would be no hesitation.

It's just £400 is a lot of money, and is the D300 really worth the extra

Re: I ordered a D300!!

If I really wanted a D300 I'd just say sod it and buy one......would my life be that different for the sake of £400 ?

Personally I wasn't hell bent on a Nikon and decided that the 40D was perfectly adequate for me at an attractive price.

Re: I ordered a D300!!

Lol 400 quid is a lot of money Especially when you consider the d300 as being practically twice the cost of the 40d - esp when there is not really that much in them.

I reckon Nikon should do a £100 cashback as well!
