Re: Thinking

Hey Grumpy.

I really like the simplicity and composition of the shot, but your B&W conversion takes away from that. b&w is hard to get right. Its only in recent times that I dare to do them. Your conversion looks like a basic desaturation.

If you take this image back into photoshop. Click CTRL and L It will bring up the layers pallet. Your levels graph on here shows your shadows|midtones|highlights. Looking at it and your image. Its very heavy on the midtones (middle to the left of the graph) There are no Highlights (right of the graph) and shadows are level with midtones so they could do with being a bit richer. Use the sliders on the ORIGINAL image to bring out the levels. I always slide the middle to the left and the left slight to the right. Dont touch the highlights (one on the right)

If you would like to see an example post the original and Ill convert it over and show you what I did.

Sam x

Re: Thinking

Thanks DC. No it wasn't desaturated, I played with the colour levels and the contrast in Camera RAW and just liked it this way.

Not everyone's taste i guess.....
