Re: This week's photos

Zounds, I don't for one minute think I am a Photographer, just a picture taker. Nearly all of you take better ones too. I am just a old lady that passes my time clicking at what ever takes my interest. My eyes are not the best and neither is my camera. I only hobble about as needed, no hiking for me any more so all my pictures have to be from my car windows as I drive through the forest. Sorry I can't meet the quality that the rest of you have shown me. Shirley

Re: This week's photos

I think you misunderstand me - I certainly didn't mean to cause offence - but you have your C&C box ticked, and you are posting on a photography forum, so I was trying to explain some of the faults you can work on.

Re: This week's photos

Some of you asked to let you know if I got a answer to my inquery about what the flower with the spur over it was. I did get a answer...it is a Skullcap but which one is not clear from my photo. it does not normally bloom this late in the year. Had a nice note from the site guy.
Zoundz, I am not offended just thought you might give more about how to fix those errors. But then you have a different camera and probably can't do that. I think I did do better this past week...will post soon...Shirley

Re: This week's photos

I am more than happy to help out in any way I can, and would give more full C&C if I knew what camera you were using, as I'm sure many others here would too.

The noise could be high ISO settings, which could also account for the blown highlights too. Are you shooting in automatic mode by any chance? Did you use flash (as that can bleach the highlights too)?

This sort of noise/pixelation looks mostly like it was cropped in too close though - can you post the original unedited photos? Or are these the original unedited shots?

Re: This week's photos

Thanks for this input, Zounds. It is a zoomed and then cropped in PSP. I have ISO set at 100 on manual settings. After your critique I put my camera on Auto setting and watched what it chose for Sunday's pictures. I think I see some improvements I can make. I will try to post some of those now...Mom is up so have to hope she doesn't think of something I have to do..NOW! She is 96 and very active...her eye sight is not very good so I watch her to keep her out of trouble when I can. Shirley

Re: This week's photos

I think your problem may be zooming in too much - some cameras just can't cope with zooming in too far! Keep up the good work - you'll see a huge improvement I'm sure!
