new market virginia

i think this was the meat house at new market battlefield in virginia from last october. we stopped here on the way to west virginia to stretch out legs a bit.

according to the bubble on the tripod it was level. my eyes disagree with that, but i can't seem to make it look level no matter what i try..

Re: new market virginia

Houses of that age were not level and settled even more lop sided. My own house in Michigan was so out of level my Dad said when it was built 1930 that there was only one level to use and the one needing it didn't have it.. I like it a bit out of level more then perfectly level..Shirley

Re: new market virginia

the building wasn't straight to begin with.. the bottom of the door frame is tilted .51 according to photoshop, the top of the door is tilted .12. the ground slanted right, the building looks like it was built to slant left into the hill then later on shifted right. this is an old civil war battlefield site, the building was built maybe 40 years prior to that.
