Cheers Baz, I totally see where your coming from, just feel it looks horrible but you've gotta protect yourself I guess.

An awful lot of and I'll use this term loosely... Wannabe photographers, tend to drape a massive 'copyright' bulletin on their photos

Re: how do I go about selling my photography?

Dan after Dawn had here picture "lifted" and used by someone else definately do it. You can also inbed it into exif files as extra proof incase you name gets removed from the picture . I have recently programmed my Nikon D200 so that every photo has proof in exif automatically

Having dealt with the general public all my working life there are some that would take any advantage.

Re: how do I go about selling my photography?

Dan - You have been offered some good advice so I'm not sure if it helps, but I had a 1/2 page front page colour photo on a national newspaper and three back page images - for the princley sum of - nowt! But I do now get asked to do private work as a result of people seeing my fots.

I then did a few pieces for a couple of magazines - A cooking mag, a lifestyle mag and a 4x4 mag. I'm happy to let you know privately how much they paid.

good luck with your sales

Re: how do I go about selling my photography?

It depends what rights you want to give away.

You can sell it based on rights to use it (so you can sell the same rights to others) or exclusive rights - so only they can use it.

Find out what they want... simple rights to use it can vary from free up to say £100 - exclusive rights are much much more.

Have a look at how stock photo sites do things: http://www.istockphoto.com/index.php

Re: how do I go about selling my photography?

Not sure if this is any help to anybody, this is american based but is a good basis for print work pricing
