Re: Canon 450 + IS lenses.

Well, several hundred pounds lighter in the pocket, but I've got the kit.

Canon EOS 450D
EFS 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS
EF 70-300 4-5.6 IS USM
4GB Ultra II card
Centron bag (Freebie, it's better than nowt)

Hit the top of my budget but I think I've got the right kit.

Looked, poked, prodded, hummed, hahed, pondered and finally took the excellent and unpressured advice of the sales rep and went for the IS option.

I looked at several options, especially the Sigma 70-300 APO Macro which is a great product for the money, but decided on the IS as being a neccesary extra expense.
Based on the one shot I took with it so far, freehand on full zoom and pin sharp in bad light, the IS will prove its worth very quickly.
I will look at Macro lenses once the bank balance has recovered.

Never having had a DSLR before I am seriously impressed with the speed you can take shots at and how easy it all is on full auto mode.
The fun will start when we try the top of the dial.

Look forward to many, many dumb questions.

Re: Canon 450 + IS lenses.

The dumb questions dont ever get asked!

Looks like you will be rebitten by the fot bug - particularly with that good set-up.

It wont take long before your bored with auto settings and are having some wild fun with the 'creative' zone.

I'm looking forward to you Wowing us with some of the spectacular landscape around you.

Broadband is looking more likely now the DAX has been removed from our line, but 3 miles from the exchange it still won't be stunning.

It might take me that long to get a decent photo to post too.
