Floor furnishings

Thought I would try shooting one of my dogs (Varg) against the light but using the camera’s flash to see what would happen. Think it makes a pleasant change from front lighting.

Have asked for a CC not because I think it is an image of any merit but because I’d like your advice on how to improve shooting in this manner.

Re: Floor furnishings

So is this what they use for rugs and keeping your feet warm in Norway.

As a shot I like it, he is a babe too by the way I can't give any advice on lighting, but I love what you have done

You can create some nice effects shooting against the light, like this:

Kit 1
Nikon D300
Nikon 55-200mm VR
Kit 2
Nikon D40
Nikon 18-55mm
My Compact/P&S: Panasonic Lumix TZ7

Re: Floor furnishings

Thanks for the kind comments MS, and yes, thanks Azz, have done it with statues and buildings but never tried it with living things, will try it next time I have the opportunity, not sure my dogs would be very good subjects as they are too feathered round the edge and I think you need a crisp edge for the best effect.

P.S. to MS, Varg things your ok too

Re: Floor furnishings

Aw big hugs to Varg and tummy rubs too!

Still waiting for you to post pics of your other dogs too

I agree about the silhouette pics, it doesn't work so good with more hairer dogs or maybe it's my pic taking They end up looking like big fuzzy blobs, I might try a headshot though, that could work.

I did get a nice one of the cat once, sat in a pool of light in a dark room, I shall see if I can find it, it was done on my P&S, that would probably work for hairy dogs if you can get them to stay in the pool of light of course
