Getting To Know YOu! (little me)

little me has very kindly agreed to let us interview her!

YOP: little me, tell us how you got involved in photography?
LM: I have taken pictures ever since I started having kids but always with a cheapo point and shoot.
My Dad is a keen photorapher so this summer I thought I'd take over my hubby's DSLR (hardly used by him) so I'd have something we could do together.
I never thought I'd enjoy it so much! I used to watch him taking pictures of flowers and trees and not have a clue about why he would want to do that when his grandchildren were running around behind his back - now I totally get it!

YOP: What in your opinion creates a great image?
LM: A picture that prompts some kind of emotional reaction, draws me in or has me coming back to look again.

YOP: Who, if anyone has inspired you - photography or just generally?
LM: I have no idea about famous or influential photographers as I know nothing about photography! So, at the moment I am very inspired by various photographers on Flickr. I have them as contacts and everyday I log on to see what they uploaded and get ideas and inspiration from them.
I have 150 contacts who inspire me but here are a few of my faves:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/johnnypatience/ (for awesomeness)
http://www.flickr.com/photos/kelleyryden/ (for babies)
http://www.flickr.com/photos/waitingforsophie/ (for kids)
http://www.flickr.com/photos/powerpig/ (for fun)

YOP: Which type of photography do you find most enjoyable, or challenging, and why?
LM: When I started in the summer I tried a bit of everything and quite liked it all - each has its own joy and challenges. Right now I am concentrating on portraits as I love looking at fab pictures of my kids! I'm doing a 365 of family portraits, so hopefully I'll have the hang of it by the end of the year.

YOP: What's your personal fave photograph?
LM: Oooh, how can I choose? Is a different one each week!

YOP: What camera/lenses do you use most of all, and why?
LM: I have hubby's 300D and I usually use my 50mm 1.8 or my Dad's 100mm 2.8 macro.
Would love to upgrade this year though! A 50D and a 30mm 1.4 is on my wish list!

YOP: What is the future of photography?
LM: Not a clue! I don't know anything about photography - where its come from or where its going! So I'll say my future in photography which may actually possibly might be a very small part time busines in kids and babies portraits - but I have a LOT of practising to do first!

Thanks little me!

xx

Emma, what I like about you is your frankness about your lack of in-depth photography knowledge, in spite of which, whether by luck or design, sheer volume or photoshop expertise you have come a long way in a very short time and produce some stunning pictures many of us on here would be proud of.

Nice one Emma

Jeff picked up on what he called 'frankness' and whilst I agree with him, it's your enthusiasm that stands out for me - something which (along with a great eye for a shot) I think shines through in the pictures you post.
