Dropped camera - Auto Focus not working

aaaaaaah, dropped the camera today, it fell lens first now the auto focus dosn't work, its a canon 18-55 EFS would this be fixable or should i buy a new lens

see if you can try it on another camera first... you could take it to your nearest jessops or other camera specialist shop... they could test it and advise you on repair/replacement....

i know its unlikely, but check the fall didnt knock the AF/M switch on the camera lens/body.

Thank goodness, I bet you are very relieved at least you found out before taking it to Jessops or suchlike, you'd have felt even thicker if you had

thing is i have only borrowed the camera of my daughters boyfriend whos a photographer (its one of his old cameras)so im double glad i only tripped a switch

Glad you got it fixed... i dropped my camera (and i had the 70-200 lens on at the time... yeah the really expensive one!!) luckily landed body first and the lens was fine... the camera however was sent off to be repaired... and is costing nearly £200 just to replace the spring that flips the mirror up... luckily i have a spare 400D body otherwise i would have been stuffed... i have had a lot of work since i dropped it including a wedding!!!
