Create a HDR Alternative
With all the rage seeming to be HDR, stumbled across this alternative just done in PS. Takes about 2 mins, maybe not to everyone's taste but I like the effect it brings:
1: Create a duplicate layer
2: Invert the duplicate layer
3: Gausian blur the layer to around 70 pixels
4: Convert it to B&W
5: Change Layer blend to overlay and opacity to around 80%
6: Adjust the levels on the layer
It's quite subtle but the best way to see is to have a go and then turn the duplicate layer on and off and you can see quite a difference.
