Another tip is to make sure you have Photoshop to do it on.
I can do the same sort of thing on Microsoft Digital Editing Suite but the version I use won't do Raw pictures.

Yay, at last, someone else who uses the same Microsoft Digital software as me, I thought I was the only one on the planet, everyone else seems to use photoshop
