Computer monitors

Ordered a new monitor last Saturday and it came today, goes back on friday.

Why you may ask, well connected it all up and it worked a treat for the first few hours , then mauve blotches started appearing all over the screen. So ebuyer whom I bought it through are swapping it for another.

What worries me is when I collected from the van driver, not only was the box torn, but there was also a huge great parcel resting right on top of it which I suspect damaged the screen.

Just have to wait another couple of days for the replacement.

Re: Computer monitors

Bazza - computer monitors are really important for photography work, it pays to spend it a little more.

If you are going for an LCD monitor, try to get one that has a S-PVA or S-IPS panel - avoid TN panel monitors if you can...

Re: Computer monitors

Eventually got the replacement monitor and what a joy it is as well, the improvement over the others is amazing.

It is now showing pictures exactly as I see them in the camera viewer, however the printer just isn't good enough to reproduce an exact likeness (HP Photosmart 8150).

Don't get me wrong , looking at the prints without seeing the monitor picture they look ok as stand alone prints.

So my question is which printer reproduces the best copy, mine is only a 2 cart printer and I suspect a 6 or 8 cartridge printer would be better.
Which printers do members use and do they reproduce a close match to the screen?

Re: Computer monitors

never print my own use photobox.

it works out much much cheaper than buying ink, paper and the printer.

Re: Computer monitors

Jols

I would use an online prining service if I wanted lots of prints but I just do the occassional print of something I specially like, so a better printer I thought would be the road to go down.
