Is it me or the camera!

I predominantly use Auto Focus but recently my photos are not of the quality expected and when in full size are quite fizzy as if a lot of camera shake, does my camera need a service or do I need to get glasses!! It's a Canon 350D purchased in 2006.

Do you have a tripod? If you do, use it to take some test shots or take some shots with the camera rested on a firm surface. If the result is still "fizzy" then it's possible you have a problem

Yes I was thinking of doing that, should I test each of my lenses too to make sure it's not one of them?

Yes, because if all the lenses are sharp you will know it's not a camera or lens problem, rather your hold/release.

But if one of them is not sharp, it points to the lens. Is the focus motor in your camera or in the lenses?

What setting is your camera on? if you have it set to aperture priority and at something like f8 or f11, it is likely the shutter speeds will be quite long, maybe 1/30 a second or more and you would have to hold it quite still to get a good image. I don't mean it to be rude, but do you understand your camera very well...I mean are you sure it is nothing obvious like that? Also has your focus point moved, so your camera is focussing at some other point in the frame and not the central point?

I am wondering whether I may have inadvertently pressed some buttons and it is not as it was before!! I have also noticed that I don't get the red dots (focus points) come up as often as they used to so maybe I just need to reset the camera and see what happens, if I can, best find the manual!!

Yes I agree, reset it if possible, and then use a solid surface to take photos from, using the timer function if possible, rather than just pressing the button, and check it with all lenses.

I was gonna suggest the same as BC check the settings. Also read the manual they're normally very helpful in helping you get to know your camera

I was shown a little trick once by a pro
open up exel on your pc
put the monitor at a 45 degree angle stand back about 10 feet and take a picture with your centre on the centre of your screen
when you look at the taken picture it will tell you if the auto focus is good or in front or behind
it may help you ......
