No, I dont think it was very fast, just the combination of aperture I chose (f18), the polariser, focal length and because the place was very dim, dictated the shutter speed I selected as well. I probablly should have selected a larger aperture to get the proper effect I was after, or, removed the polarizer .

Yes, all the images were taken with my 17-40.

As for the last image 10 sec exposure(little cottage surrounded with flowers)
it was taken at around 6pm, so you can imagine how dark it was getting then this was taken @ f10 also.

How are you finding the polariser now? I know you said you weren't sure of it at first - did you have it on when you took the waterfall shots at Ayr?

Yes, you will certainly need the longer shutter speeds at that time of night!

I think its great Greyhawk, I got the shots I was after at River Doon (Alloway)even though I was on the wrong side of the river, and facing the sun. It was a bit of a challenge to get the shots I was after, but they worked out ok

The waterfall shots at Finlaystone seemed a bit harsh and wispy, not the kind of shots I wanted, also, the images just appeared flat. I was a little dissapointed and blamed the filter, but was probablly down to the settings I had used.

I used the filter on the sunset pics at Ayr beach as well and I'm really pleased with those also
