Poor days photos

Today I took the camera out to get some photos of the dogs and everyone turned out poor. Some were to dark, some to bright, some blurred and some with cloudy areas. I tried all sorts of settings, none of which seem to work, I ended up with one decent photo(will post later) I have taken better photos just on the factory settings the camera has.

I know this is most likely because I am a beginner, but do the people here have days like this?

Re: Poor days photos

LOL Welcome to good old over cast days, the photographers bane! Colors are dull and lifeless and you images look flat and boring.

As with your photography, there could be a few issues:

Problem 1
Your pics are coming out dark AKA under exposed

Solution
Set your self a longer shutter speed or up the ISO

Problem 2
Blurred* and over exposed images

Solution
*Mount your cam on a tripod and check your aperture settings as this could also be effecting your DOF creating unwanted blur.

Speed up your shutter.

I used to have problems like that with my P&S, but *touch wood* the new camera has surprised me!

Re: Poor days photos

Practice practice and then practice more...change settings on your camera and SEE what the effects are ...I still think that is the best way to learn

Re: Poor days photos

I find that one of THE worst things is a blanket of grey cloud , the very overcast days ... if there are some clouds you can work with them but grey and overcast PAH! You need to be very careful if you have any shots against the sky then

Re: Poor days photos

A lot of days can be like that, I went down to Porthcawl on a nice sunny day for lots of surfing pics, I took about 100 shots and liked a grand total of......2!

It can be frustrating, but remember that everytime you pick up the camera, you're learning, even if the shots are rubbish, you know not to repeat what you did then, again so to speak!!!

Keep trying
