MS, all pros edit to a certain extent. It all depends on what you want to achieve with your captures. Look at Dave Hill for example, His work is awsome but extensivley edited.

I have read all of this,this must of been before I joined, as I don't remember this thread,interesting reading too

I see photography as a form of art, so I don't think there are any rights or wrongs.For me it is about the end image,obviously knowing one end of the camera to the other is useful too

I want to be able to produce the best possible picture in camera, but I also love "enhancing" or "Creating something different" too. Being new to all of this, I find the whole editing of photographs fascinating, and love fiddling with the pics I have taken.

But, I think my pictures are getting better, so pics that I just want to leave as taken, I am able to more and more ....

So for me there is no right or wrong .What one person sees as art , another sees as an eyesore

I had a look through his pictures and to me they are just that, pictures*. The majority have been so heavily edited that they do not constitute what I consider a photograph to be.

*As pictures I think some are quite good, I just wouldn't class them as photographs

LOL i guess but the very definition of a photograph is a light falling on a light-sensitive surface (sensor) so yes they are still photos

To add, there is no way you can achieve that kind of shot with out getting the lighting and set up right in the first place!

i think some are impressive shows of CGI images - but I wouldn't call them photos... they look like drawings - and I wouldn't like to call it photography... its' art, but not photography.

I like both - photos snapped and photos created

It depends with me, it depends what I want from the image. More often than not I take pics with film cameras, so if I scan things in, I might use the clone tool to make sure the negs are clean - but tend to only ever do digitally what I could have done in my darkroom. Sometimes I change colour levels etc, but I don't tend to do a lot digitally. However there are exceptions if I'm using my digital camera I tend to edit more for some reason, not a lot more, but I might crop or use curves, again, nothing that couldn't be done in a traditional darkroom.
