Re: Taking, or making photographs?

First of all, the point was not about me being a cameraman, it was about, despite being professionally trained as one, it doesn't mean that my shots will be equal or even better than someone elses, even if we both know how to work our equipment and set up a shot.

2nd point! In what way would taking something you said as an insult be " Good for me "?

3rd point.
The reason I asked if you thought all your photos were perfect, was becuse of this:
I claimed that, by simply knowing how to work a camera doesn't mean that you're a photographer, and certainly doesn't guarantee you the perfect picture.

You began you're answer by saying " I certainly don't agree with that!"

This would suggest that you do indeed believe that simply knowing how to work a camera not only makes you a photographer, but also guarantees you the perfect picture!

That is why I asked you.

And to touch on the final point about my own pictures being perfect...I was on here only the other day, claiming that the only way we can ALL improve our photography skills, is by having fellow forumites tell us the truth about our shots, rather than a) always tell us they're wonderful, and b) say nothing at all if they don't like them.

I also explained that the reason I joined this forum was to enhance what little skills I already posessed, and that I looked forward to learning a great deal from everyone else on here, so...no! I don't think my pictures are perfect, but I am willing to share what little knowledge I do have, in both taking a photograph and editing one!

To you perhaps, not to me!

I WANT to learn, I WANT to take better pictures, I DONT want to use photoshop on photographs to make the bits I got wrong, right, if you can help me and others do that, please do.

I do believe we are doing rather well for a YoP thread, 6 pages!! Is that a record?

" To you perhaps, not me!"

I'm sorry Dawn...but the line " I certainly don't agree with that!" can only be taken one way!

To me...and only me it would seem...you are telling me you disagree with the point I made

How can I possibly be misunderstanding a very clear, concise and to the point answer like that?

Re: Taking, or making photographs?

So be it Mande, im not apologising for something you see differently to me. We will agree to disagree on this one.

Can I ask you one more time please. Can you help newbies to understand camera settings and taking better photos without the use of photoshop, so we can improve our photographs? KK has done some super PS tutorials, for those that are interested in it, I know they have been well recieved. I think this forum, being new and small at present could do with people who are very experienced in the field.

Mel.
I do think a lot of PS stuff is improvements on the original, and thats what people want. I personally dont think you need any sort of editing!

Yes I appreciate you like the effects, thats fine, its not that I have issues with, its the heavy editing, changing etc... just to make the picture look as it should of done in the first place.

I'm not loooking for an apology Dawn, of course we're allowed to disagree.

I wasn't lying to you Dawn when I said that I too was on this forum looking for ways to learn and improve my photography skills.
And although I am a professional Broadcast Lighting Cameraman I've only turned my hand to photography over the last year or so, and there are some differences between what I do and photography, although I suppose the fundamentals are the same

Re: Taking, or making photographs?

Does it really matter how you get to the end result as long as the photographer/customer is happy with it?
