Yes I understand that. But it doesn't really negate the point I made, which was is that *really* their reason? Or is it more a fear of loss of profit?

Again I can appreciate that might be the case - but I haven't been there so can't comment. However, again as with the first point - we're still allowed to question whether that really is the reason. Most of us are savvy enough to know big business like to control/protect their revenue streams if at all possible - even if it's unfair or sometimes, unethical.

Understand that too. But doesn't mean I have to agree with it. (Not saying I do, or don't mind.)

Either way, it's mostly just opinion - and yes sometimes we can dramatise things ...but we try to keep things amicable and fun, even if it's something that gets our goat. As it seems to have yours

Re: Olympic Ban.

Oh - that was harsh! Think someone has a small bit of a superiority complex? It's always so nice to see such a 'pro/amateur divide'.

Re: Olympic Ban.

Hi Andy, I think you have made some very valid points in the thread and although of to a bad start, I think this was obviously something you feel passionate about.

I actually agree with most of what you have said, I think there is a great deal of sensationalising in the press a things soon become very embroiled.

As I stated earlier in this thread, I feel Big lenses and pro-cameras bodies don't mix well with tightly packed seating areas. So with this in mind I can see where some of these venues are coming from. I still think we all as photographers have to be mindful of how vulnerable our freedom and rights are though.

So... Andy if your still there, don't give up, why don't you post some pictures up so we can see some of the other things your passionate about and put this thread behind us

Regards, Ken

Re: Olympic Ban.

I would add that after seeing the opening ceremony, I too would be miffed if someone had a great big lens in my way

I can still see why some might think there are other reasons, but on the whole think it's probably for the best.
