Re: Last pit head in Lancashire

Oh, you're just showing off now

You can do all of that, but you can't clone out a cone???

I think we've both had the wool pulled over our eyes here Andrea

Very nice edit.

Very nice edit.

MD

You have a great way of boosting the confidence of a beginner, thanks.

To be honest, that picture was a pain. When i first copied the men onto my image, i could only get the bottom half to go Black and white so i had to re-open the image again, desaturate and cut a bit off and paste it back on to the image so it's actually in two halfs.

The feet also caused a major headache. As you can see, i didn't quite manage to get them standing on the cobbles.
I've also made a mess with the leg of man two........but we'll just pretend he did that himself in a mining accident or something

But all in all, i'm pleased for a first effort. I can only improve

Oh, and i also know how to clone a cone now...well, i know how to rub it out. Today, i've learned quite a bit. So thank you to those who for their advice and suggestions.

I sent this picture to a friend asking him what age he thought is was since i was doing a project and needed to have a approximate date for the picture, he sent me a reply saying he’d “zoomed in and had a good look at the picture and noticed the miners had lamps on their helmets which were being used up until the miners strike”. He said “From the clothing and various bits in the background, I’d say the picture was most probably taken around the early 1970’s”.
I was pretty impressed I’d managed to do a “Mandé Daguerre” on him, although he wasn’t.

PS, And he didn’t notice i'd shaved the leg of one unfortunate miner either

Re: Last pit head in Lancashire

What a great thread. Its amazing how much you can learn from all this banter. I have no experience of PP but look forward to find the time (and money) to have a go. For whats its worth, I actually like the cone in the picture. I think it gives great perspective on the size of the wheel.
