Re: Wedding photography kit.

Me again Pepsi :> I take all the Images at my weddings myself. . .usually the grooms are not interested in "getting ready" shots and the focus is on the Bride(shoes, hair, tiara etc) until the Groom arrives at the venue then I leave for there. Timing is important as is preparation. You MUST have spare everything. . .and I mean everything. Having seen your work lately I know you will manage :> For anyone who is interested my website is www.specialmomentzphotography.co.uk I would appreciate any feedback.

Re: Wedding photography kit.

I'm sure you'll be fine Eileen! I think having two cameras at such a shoot is a must!

I'm still thinking of trying a wedding out at some point, if I ever get around to it!

lucky? yes thank the lord!

I have a few booked this year but thank god for Calumet! D700 ready to rent and at long last buying my own D700! (next month) oh Nikon 24-70 f2.8 (rent) 50 f1.8 (mine) and 70-200 f2.8 (sigma/ mine) 2x sb800 (mine) 1x sb600 (mine) 1x sb900 (borrowed) reflectors, batteries (loads), cards (loads), light/flash meter, tripod, tracker bars, drinks, oh and step ladders!

make a detailed plan for your shots! ask to attend the rehearsals, be nice to the vicar/ priest! (amazing how far this will get you).

Re: Wedding photography kit.

When I do a wedding I take 3 cameras, my 5d mark II, my partner's 50d and my hasselblad. I did weddings as a second shooter until I had enough of my own gear, I was too afraid of messing up someone's big day by not having enough kit, I'd definitely advise you to rent a second camera, and buy spare batteries, a prime lens and a nice flashgun. Also take a tripod in case they don't allow photography in the service - nice shots from the back of the church on a longer exposure...

Re: Wedding photography kit.

Well folks, been gone and done it! With all the help and advise I got from all of you I think I managed to get enough to make a decent album! The bride and Groom have see some of them now, not many, just some to pick from to put in the local newspaper. And they were more than happy with what they saw! The bride had strong ideas of what she wanted, although I did try and explain things from a practical point, as in poor lighting, not very picturesque settings etc, she just kept saying "I know you can do it" the drawback of being her best friend! And with what Graham took I think it worked out fine, now to edit them and see the final results! Thanks again everyone!
