In menu a10 is on - just switched a5 af activation on- so will try that unless there is another setting to alter as well

Bazza, I have mine set to af on only in the a5 (AF activation menu) also in a1 I have it set to release+focus.

Now got 2 of the EN-EL4a batteies and BL-3 holder + battery charger
