Looking at the above on my older computer and a "normal " screen they look a lot better.
It proves to me that to really examine a photo properly, an IPS screen like my Dell Ultra Sharp and a top flight graphics card on the computer is really a must.
I have to say even my photos don't look so good now and need editing to get them correct. So I am now spending a lot of time checking out years of photos.
One of the biggest and best buys is the Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 (free trial download if you look on the net) and the tutorial

Click on the blue tags to get some idea of how the tutorial works they are on the left of the tutorials in chapter 1 and on the first 2 in chapter 2.
For those new to editing I can't recommend these enough. Consider a copy new Adobe CS6 photo starts at around £600+, those I put in the links are a real bargain and does a lot of what the full CS6 does.
PS I have only got to the DOF chapter on the training tut at the moment. So this is what I have managed to do and I am a slow learner.

Top picture original, bottom picture edited out the cable from the right side of face, blurred the picture and restored the bird back to the original to make it stand out. If I can do that after the tut then anyone can. So if your thinking of editing do consider those in the links you won't be disappointed ( mainly for windows)
Richard those links if you don't have an editing suit will help no end.
