Re: A few birds from today

Thank you Brian and Barry

Its the same with me a lot of the time Barry, personal commitments and the fact i do not drive stops me from getting out a lot. Only when my wife is at home do i have the opportunity saying we are not busy with other things. I had not even planned to go out today but had to make the most of an opportunity now my wife is off work for Xmas. I did not want to miss the chance of seeing the Snow Bunting, and knowing my luck if i had waited any longer it would of gone again
I wish i had walked around to the next reservoir today, as i missed A Jack Snipe and Common Snipe, a couple of Water Rail and Goldeneye. Touch wood there will be more opportunity before the end of the year.

The Pigeons can stay there Dave

Re: A few birds from today

If I may suggest in the say last photo you reduced the highlights a little it could improve the picture. Just an example maybe highlights could be reduced even a little more, but you get the idea.Have a go, this was done on your last photo.

Just another tip

I suspect somewhere in your camera memory there is a mean to register your photos on the exif data with your name. This will help to identify if your photos get used commercially by someone else. On the Nikon menu its called Copyright information where you can place your ID. worth having a look

It just makes a good picture a great picture, some tend to over edit in my opinion, but just a little touch here and there makes all the difference. This was done with Photo Elements 9 on quick edit-lighting- highlights-mainly, with a minute sharpening All done on the sliders

Easy quick and makes that little difference less than 2 minutes to do including loading up the program

Re: A few birds from today

Thank you Ken.....Try and get yourself down to Tring Reservoirs if you have a chance too that is, you are not that far away ....Although who knows how long he will stay either so always a possibility you would miss him..... To see one in our neck of the woods is a treat, most of the time they are just seen around coastal areas this time of year.......

Barry, that is definitely something i do, over edit sometimes, making an okay picture into a bad one .

Re: A few birds from today

Wildlife/animals is something I try and concentrate on and landscapes , portraits I am the first to admit I know nothing about- never tried and don't think I could ever achive the high standards I have seen on photographic boards.

Getting a bit into video camera work but need to learn loads more even just using my camcorder.
