Re: Wedding Photography - most profitable?

I guess they pay extra to have prints done? And that's just the photo session?

I'd love to do a few weddings - not for the money mind you! I'm no where near good enough to charge

HA! I can just see it now, setting the timer on the cam and running back in my wedding dress!!

Gra managed to squish about 30 inthere for us - However h did do it all at mates rates - the package we had would have cost at least 1k elsewhere!

He was at the church for 9 (but did offer to come to the house for morning shots, didnt want them though) and stayed untill around 11pm! We had the album and the Cd aswell

Re: Wedding Photography - most profitable?

i have not done nor intend to do wedding photography but I can understand the amount of pre wedding work necessary. For example getting permission to shoot ( sorry that may be the wrong expression ) a photograph in a church. Discussing with bride and groom the type of photos they would like, taking the preparations of getting married ( thinking of the bride mainly, advantage of a female photographer here). Checking out the best photo shoot places at reception first etc etc.

It must be more than a days work just in preperation for the big day alone.

That is without the worries of making sure you got all the right family in some shots and group photos and the like.

I don't envy anyone doing wedding photos and actually have to admire them for doing it.
What scares me if something goes wrong, there is no second chance and the risk of being sued for breach of contract for failing to come up with the goods is frightning.

I guess the answer is to have a second shooter as a backup and all this after having to buy reasonable photographic equipment in the first place.

No wonder it costs so much to hire a photographer and the charges reflect the work involved which some might not realise.

Re: Wedding Photography - most profitable?

some good comments there bazza

I would say it could go the otherway too though... imaging their faces when they're over the moon with the results you get from the day...
