I've got some good quality string you can buy azz got it garden green too, to keep you hidden from sight during wildlife shots

Just loop it around your boot and pull up till it's tight. No use as a tripod substitute for long exposures but does eliminate camera shake a bit.

A monopod is handy for supporting a camera in confined spaces, it not always possible to set up a tripod. They obviously are lighter and easier to carry but for complete stability then a tripod comes into its own.
