Re: Photographic critiques of our pictures

I'd love to know how to take better pictures and totally agree with what has been said that there are a lot of people on here who know what they are doing....me? I still don't know what half the things my camera does are or how to use them.

I have no idea about ISO and other technical speak so maybe a c&c icon, and a c&c for dummies icon?? So if people are good enough to offer advice they know wether they are speaking to someone who understands photography speak??

Eg I have taken quite a few pics of me and my partner over the weekend and they were taken at night with my very basic camera and would love to have known what to do to make it better. And any pics I do post I would like to know how to improve (in a nice way of course )

But overall I think feedback is good

Re: Photographic critiques of our pictures

I agree, I'd welcome c&c, and all of my pics are open to it, I only have a point and shoot camera at the moment, but I've already learnt a great deal about what differnt things on it do, this has been done by asking, and getting fabulous answers back, I think as long as it's constructive advise, rather critazism (sp) it would be fine.
As for giving it, where would I start, I look at a picture and think stunning, wonderful, and how much clearer and more defined than anything I could take, and that's all I see, maybe that'll come with time, but how could I give my opininion, other than nice pic, when I don't know what I'm talking about.

When we get the icons and you state C&C welcome, it will apply to all pics except those where you say 'no C&C please', in the post itself

Re: Photographic critiques of our pictures

As I say - C&C is never welcome if it just shoots the photographer down in flames.. Everyone attempts their best efforts when they press that shutter release... I think it's good to discuss how a 'Nice Pic' could become a 'Great Pic' next time you're out with your camera.

I think you're also spot on with two levels of C&C - for those that know their f-stops from their apertures and one for those who just about know which is the top, bottom, front and back of their camera... (All of you I've seen so far are significantly better than most 'snappers' out there - you should be proud of your works).

The important thing with any C&C is not to take comments personally. The aim is to think about how we could improve our works next time. Not feel bad that someone thinks our current photographs could be better for whatever reason. As I say - we all try our best - we all like to show our works - and I guess we all strive for better results (even if current results are good) I know I do!

So Azz - when can we expect some icons?
