I know they are not cheap but certainly worth every penny IMO, I had previously used an EIZO 16" tn monitor. When I bought my HPLP2475 24" widescreen H-IPS I wondered how I ever got a long with my small Eizo. The difference is night and day.

I see your in the Midlands, if your near Walsall bring your setup over to me and use my
Color Munki photo to calibrated it. One of the best calibration units on the market at £300. It does monitors and printers.
If your that close I can even come over to you

I borrowed a colorimeter to calibrate my monitor (Lacie blue eye) I do not own one.

Does anywhere rent them out do you think?
It seems such a lot of money to splash out.

I don't think you could hire them from anywhere as they come with software that needs installed as well. There are cheaper ones for around £60, spyder express and the huey are examples.

You could try some free software to improve your monitors colour-brightness-gamma etc. There are lots of tests you can do to see how much it's off by

Thanks for all the tips and offers. Finally got what I wanted by playing around with the colour controls on the printer. I rarely print photos at the moment, it is another area of the learning curve to be tackled in the future. For the moment I am concentrating on being more proficient with the camera.
