Re: A wedding in 3 hours....

Must say I love sunshine in B&W shots, and for some reason - when I see mono photos with sunshine in them I can almost feel the heat, esp if it's a photo of me. I know that's mad! But try it, go through some old photos and see how they make you feel

Guy - how do you rate the 50/1.4? I am seriously considering getting it. Could you live without it if you had the 24-70 (which you do). My thinking is I could skip it and put the money towards the 24-70 or 17-55 instead.

I know exactly what you mean. There's more colour in the full set, mainly due to the lovely colours they gave me. I always do some mono, and the indoor light was a little flat overall so more mono there.

I love 50mm on FF Azz, and I'd always want one in my bag. IF Nikon bring out a new nano-coated 50mm AF-S I'll have one for sure. The existing one is very good though. Longer church shots aside I think I could shoot with a 24-70 and 50/1.4 and get 98% of what I do.

Re: A wedding in 3 hours....

So would you say you use your 50 primarily for lower light shots? Or is there something else about it that draws you to it?

It has that lovely shallow depth of field, and I find 50mm a good focal length for me. I really like 35mm primes as well though, more so than 85mm.

I was thinking you dig some old ones out - but no probs

Just a final question about these shots - do you use a tripod or are they handheld?
