Re: Blot on the landscape

wow that's a bit of a scary image for me at the moment, they are going to build five across the road from us, they are going to be 700 Meters from my French doors, Local council turned them down, but government has passed planning, they started construction last week, we have already got problems with 6 - 8 tippers up and down the road and they have only started, by putting a road in to get the everything to the site.....very scary

Re: Blot on the landscape

What I want to know is... what great twit made the decision to produce them in bright white. The one colour known to man that reflect the whole colour spectrum, why not a less "in your face" colour, a dull grey or grey-blue maybe.

Imagine that above picture with the turbines painted a more sympathetic colour to the surroundings, you would not notice them half as much.

Rant over

PS It would have been a nice picture

Re: Blot on the landscape

I like the wind turbines... I think it shows a positive improvement for man... who has certainly in recent years done his best to devastate the world.

Re: Blot on the landscape

Sky birdstrike does happen, i think they are not the way forward for renewable energy, many of the local ones are often out of action or simply becalmed.Photo voltaic cells and wavepower offer better returns in the long term but are probably more expensive to establish. A blight on the landscape, or as Chaz of London sez, a carbuncle.

Re: Blot on the landscape

Putting the whole renewable energy thing to one side - I must admit I quite like wind turbines although it's staggering just how many wind farms have been built around here over the last couple of years.
