Just counted them up On my 7th book now. I'm reading the latest Dexter book at the moment I bought quite a few of the books for a £1 on Amazon over Christmas so still to read them along with the Stephen King Dark Tower books I had on the pc already, a quick convert then moved them onto the kindle.

The text size is ok for me at the default but I can take it down a size and it is still readable. Not sure if I like the larger text though.

Re: Amazon Kindle

Azz or Carole, will I be able to upload photos from my camera through a usb sd card reader and then upload them to my smugmug online storage site? That would be cool on my long trip. I could keep you all updated on my 3,000 mile journey to my sister's house and back.

I love how you can enlarge text too, as you can change it to suit your most comfortable focus distance... I like holding it at a relaxed distance, so bigger fonts and it further away suits me better (Same with my monitor - I prefer a bigger dot pitch as I don't like the device right up to my nose!)

BC - I'll only be using it for books, I think other media such as 'news' is better suited to full colour web-ready devices, like computers and smart phones. Purely because news and video go so well together, imo.

Bob - Nice one! You're gonna love it!

Moonie & Jols - I hate the smell of books, especially new books! All those chemicals yuk! lol

Ca - how many books you read on yours yet? Play with the font sizes as you might be surprised at which ones you prefer (apparently some of us do better with more/fewer words per line).

Nope, I love the smell of book stores, spend ages in them, coffee and squishy sofa, and a book, absolute Bliss! Love secondhand bookstores even more so! Do pinch Lee's iPad which I love for browsing etc, but not read a book.
I have tired it, and rejected it, in favour of real books

Re: Amazon Kindle

Ca - I was surprised at how many 'free' classic books they have too. Will have to check them out, already download Dracula Did you watch Dexter on TV btw? I loved it!

Moonie - I still like books, but can see now that I will prefer the kindle, it's just sharper, doesn't smell (lol) and very very very convenient. I will still get books for 'reference' - such as language reference books.

I don't think you can do it like that, but it might be worth a try as it's micro-usb port - which you just connect to your computer like an extra drive (and just drag your books into the documents folder). I've had a quick look at the web on it, but it's just for browsing really - it's strength is for reading books

Yeah there are loads of classics free just a case of searching them out

I did watch Dexter on tv, in fact just finished watching season 5 which I don't think was as good as the others. You should try the books if you get a chance

Re: Amazon Kindle

I spent a few hours with it yesterday on.... my bed!

LOVE IT!! SO much easier than having to hold HUGE books, not just the weight but the awkward size with regards to holding the book open for each page. With the Kindle I can read lying on my back, on a side, on my front, holding with one hand or two - it's just so comfortable and the screen is beautiful. It has a lovely yellowy hue to it - which is actually the same colour I set my screen to when reading on the monitor.

I don't think I will go back to paper books now - for me the Kindle surpasses them on so many levels.

Re: Amazon Kindle

Glad you are loving it Azz, but re; the smell of a book. When I get a new book the first think I do is open it to the middle stick my nose right in and sniff..................pure heaven.

Re: Amazon Kindle

That would just make me want to puke lol, in fact, some of the recent books I've purchased do have a 'sickly' smell to them. They're not like what old books used to be like new, the new printing processes are different.
