You wont be able to do that Nero, the cr2(RAW) data has to be processed and converted first. You can, however, convert and save your cr2(RAW) file as a jpg or tiff in Canon DPP. Of course that would be pointless unless you have processed your cr2 image first of all. The whole point in shooting in RAW is, that you can adjust various image parameters later in a RAW editor, ie, it can help to salvage a under/over exposed picture, it also allows you to set the white balance, picture style, contrast, colour tone, saturation, sharpness and noise reduction as well as other usefull parameters in Canon DPP or any other RAW editor, you would not be able to adjust/change all that with a jpg, quite as well, . The only benefit of shooting with jpg is getting more images on your memory card with the smaller file size, and that the image is processed in camera.

You can also set your camera to shoot RAW + large, medium or small jpg Nero.

As you know, I always shoot RAW, and process them in Canon DPP. Once processed I save them as 16bit TIFF files (they can be as large as 50mb, much larger than CR2(RAW) files, which can reach a maximum file size of around 15mb), these tiff files are then opened up in photoshop elements 5 and processed further (levels, curves cropped etc) I then save the tiff file for printing and convert to jpg also, for web upload.

As for printing your images, it has to be 16bit OR 8bit TIFF files for the ultimate quality, of course you can still get excellent pictures printing jpg's as well.

Re: Comparison of RAW & JPEG

Thanks DJ, I've discovered that you process the raw pic with DPP as you would a jpeg with PS, when I was converting the raw pics to jpeg I did'nt make any adjustments so that's how I could'nt see any difference.
The pic of Nero was'nt the greatest, I was using a 200mm tele lens, the exposure was a 30th sec so there's probably a bit of shake in it.
