Anyone know the best way to prevent/soften shadows in portrait with a white background??

Im thinking about getting a diffuser/softbox for my flash unit - do they actually work???

Re: I need a little help....

Hi K, there's a diffuser built into the top of my flashgun, you just pull it out and it drops down over the flash window.

Not got around to using it yet but as you've asked I'll take a couple of pics tomorrow and post them.

Re: I need a little help....

Hi K,

You could try getting an extension lead for the flash then turn it round away from the subject to face into a diffusing brolly (you could even make one of these yourself out of paper or card). And diametrically opposite the brolly on the other side of the subject have a big piece of white card or polystyrene insulating sheet to give some soft fill in on the opposite side.

You'd have to increase the exposure as there would be less light tho.

It would be nice to see the results if you try that
