Extra battery.

I often have the problem that my battery runs out on me. I have found a replacement battery but there is also something called a battery grip that people have recommended. What are the benefite of buying the latter? Would I be just as well buying a second battery to keep charged up and ready to swop?

Re: Extra battery.

The battery grip that fits under your camera makes the body bigger which isn't ideal for little hands, however, you just fill it with AA batteries which can obviously be bought anywhere. The bottom of the grip has a thread for attatching it to a tripod. Although they're expensive you can get one on ebay quite cheaply. I'm after one for mine.

Also worth adding they're not prone to packing up in the cold like the 'camera' battery.

Re: Extra battery.

Do some come with re-chargeable batteries too? I'm sure I read somewhere they thought the grip batteries were pretty good.

Also I think the grip is meant to help you steady the camera

Re: Extra battery.

I'm same as Melody, whenever I buy a new camera I always get a second battery and keep them charged so I don't run out of juice!

Re: Extra battery.

So a spare battery would be ok, thanks everyone. It`s the cheaper option for now anyway.

Re: Extra battery.

Folks, you can buy an inverter, it plugs into the cigarette lighter socket in your car and gives you 240volts, just take your battery charger with you and plug it in.
