Buying new equipment

I have been given a bit of money and want to spend it on some new camera gear before my hubby nabs it to put towards another car!
I've decided I'm getting a Canon 7d + a few other bits but the camera body will be the main purchase. Obviously I want value for money but the more I look the more difficult it's becoming.........
So here's the dilema....
Went to Warehouse Express to try the 7d, like it but their price is £1225 asked if they could do a deal (I have a shopping list of various bits to the tune of £2500), they will not do any deals at all
Looked around on the net and can get a body around £1070 but it appears they don't come with a UK Canon warranty. It also appears, with the majority of these cheaper websites, that the delivery and customer service is very variable

I would welcome any thoughts and/or suggestions?

There are so many mixed reviews about Camerbox, I was put off a bit, however, it's great to know you've used them. Perhaps I will have a re-think.

I had a bad experience with Simply Electronics last year and that has made me even more wary of going for the cheapest option. I'm really worried about parting with over £1000 and things going wrong or it not even being deilvered then having the hassle of getting my money back.

I may have already convinced myself that Warehouse Express will be my safest option, will have a sleep on it.

Simply Electronics has a poor reputation anyway, and I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole (not even yours)

I think you will find Camera Box a completely different company to deal with, but you are right in being carefull. Why not sent a PM to Dawn as she recently purchased exactly the same camera and get her thoughts on where purchased from and service/ delivery/price etc

For that kind of money, whichever way you do it, make sure you spend on a credit card. Better comeback if it goes TU.

Totally agree about method of purchase, there is a comeback as you say. In the chat thread I am about to pay for a new rideon lawn tractor ant that is going to be the way I make the purchase as well.

I use Ian Kerr (Kerso) - prices change daily.

You may want to Google 'Kerso Canon & Nikon' to find out more. He is based in Maryland US and Scotland UK - Buys from the States & distributes from Scotland (end buyer has no duties to pay) with international Warranty.

For an extra £70 you could get it from Currys with Discount Code 10MAY (they seem to be out of stock at present tho)

Agree with M about using a credit card!!

I was going to use a company that I thought looked great, but they didnt deliver! They quoted £998 for the 7D body, with the worldwide Canon warranty, plus their own 3yr one. I cancelled the order (credit card) and then ordered from Camerabox. never had a problem with them, bought Steves Canon G7 and SX10 from them too. I had the grip too. Paid £1149 for the camera and £134.99 for the grip.

Incidently, the following day from me cancelling my order, the price went up to £1049, its now on their site at £1498!!!
