Hogganfield loch birds

A few snapshots of some birds at Hogganfield loch. The place was swarming with birds as there was only a very small part of the loch which was not frozen. Easy to get a shot but difficult to try get anything special as it was very busy, I'll go back when the lake thaws.

Lovely set Grant, the Gull having a bath is super, very "atmospheric" the colours are moody but really effective.

Beautiful! The Goosander is a top image! Really excellent stuff. I love them too - they're pretty rare in Ireland - Red Breasted Mergansers, we see a lot of - but I see Goosanders when we're in Leeds - so get my fix! ;D

Fantastic set of pics, 1 and 3 being my favorites. I almost fell into Loch Tay trying to get a picture of a mallard on Sunday. Needless to say, I have no photos to show for my efforts. I am inspired to go and try again but definitely need a more suitable lens.

I've only seen red breasted mergansers off the coast of Kintyre, to far to get a decent image. I love those birds, with there funny tuft of hair And when they dive they go under for absolutely ages. Here is a small pic of one I managed to grab a few year ago.

The grey wagtail is positively vibrant! Have yet to get a good photo of one, see them all the time, but they're just never in the right place or light for a photo!
