I think it's a nice colour - but as an overall image doesn't really shout anything? :/

No? :/ I was thinking it was just... 'nice' 
which doesn't really recommend it haha! Any thoughts on what I could do to make it more striking? The composition was designed to make it striking (diagonal lines corner to corner) but I think it may have worked better if the branch was thinner... :/

I agree with Azz, lovely colours, but not sure it 'makes' a photo.
The chopped off bit of bark in particular bothers me as it makes it feel less natural.
