Boat Statue in Bantry

Again with statues, never quite know where I am. I thought this worked rather well, it does for me, but I'm not sure what others think?

Re: Boat Statue in Bantry

It is well shot Laura but leaves me wanting to see the other side as this sort of feels like the back, do you see what I mean.

Re: Boat Statue in Bantry

It is the back - I do have a shot at the front from another trip - but the light was apalling and it really was a dreadful photo...

With this shot, the sun was directly behind the statue, so shooting from the front was proving a near impossibility. Having said that, I was really liking the view from behind, because it has a feel of the boat riding the clouds!

Re: Boat Statue in Bantry

Understand what you mean about it riding the sky, I am obviously not in my most romantic mode today

Re: Boat Statue in Bantry

I think your statue photo works well The statues do look like they are riding the clouds - very nice Z!

Re: Boat Statue in Bantry

I'd prefer to see it from the front as well..I guess that's what I'd do if I was visiting the statue, so it feels a bit frustrating not being able to see what it looks like, if you get me...

Maybe I'm just not feeling romantic enough today either!!

Re: Boat Statue in Bantry

I'm with the others... would prefer to see the front

However that doesn't mean the 'back' of something can't be interesting, you just have to bring in the element of interest somewhere else, like the angle.

Re: Boat Statue in Bantry

Being an awkward person, I like the back view, and it works IMO, really love the patina on the statue, it's a lovely colour, works with the sky colour too.

Re: Boat Statue in Bantry

Thanks all, I do prefer the back as the front is pretty ugly and creepy

Re: Boat Statue in Bantry

I like it too this way! It works because the viewer is left wanting to see the other side, provokes interest, which is always good.
