Re: Who's up for enrolling in a YoP 'course'?

Hmmm replicating a photo could be very hard/impossible in some cases for some people.

I think even starting off easy, with just photoing a subject and progressing to harder topics and actually giving pretty strict guidelines would be good.

Sounds like fun, but as I'm still pretty new to PP and manual settings, starting of simple will work for me!

Re: Who's up for enrolling in a YoP 'course'?

You could for example be asked to go and photograph something....anything to include say two compositional rules..... i.e, lead-in lines, framing, contrasts, symmetry, ROT's, Golden mean, etc....

Or, photograph something black against white, a panned image, depict motion, etc.... the list is endless

That is very much what we did once before, what happens when we have done as instructed and are we given a lesson on how to do whatever it is instructor is going to set?

I'm only surmising - you might be shown examples, given some instruction, asked to do some research, any of these...it would be down to the individual to interpret it and produce something of their choosing so long as it stays within the brief.

You tell us how you would like it to work?

Re: Who's up for enrolling in a YoP 'course'?

I am mainly a point and shoot photographer, thinking about composition and subject.I have only dabbled a little in the manual functions of my camera.I would love this to be a course where all the other aspects of photography are covered and even explained a little at the start of the thread before we all rush off to experiment. Whilst I appreciate there are many members who are advanced in these skills I feel there are enough of us beginners to make this worthwhile. Maybe there could be a two tier course so that the subject matter chosen in each tutorial could then be posted within two threads? beginner or advanced?

Fudge - some good ideas there! It's pretty much how we used to run our 'lessons' (See 'photography basics' on the right hand side). I like the idea of beginner friendly lessons too

Re: Who's up for enrolling in a YoP 'course'?

Now that I know what a fortnight is (I had to look it up ), this sounds interesting to me.

Even though I'm a beginner, I'm a bit undecided regarding whether I'd like to see a tiered approach... On one had, I find that I routinely get myself discouraged when comparing my shots with those produced from more advanced individuals (an odd quirk I suppose). On the other, the comparisons are very helpful; especially when working on the same topic. I do agree that the lessons should start off slowly so that beginners aren't overwhelmed...speaking for myself, of course.
